Luiz gives away a penalty for SIXTH time and gets THIRD red card for Arsenal

David Luiz's Arsenal career reached another low in their 2-1 defeat against Wolves after the defender gave away his sixth penalty and received his third red card since joining the club.

In the dying moments of an impressive first half for Arsenal at Molineux, the Brazilian was penalised for denying a goalscoring opportunity for Wolves' Willian Jose.

Ruben Neves duly dispatched to cancel out Nicholas Pepe's fine opener before Arsenal then went behind shortly after the break through Joao Moutinho's stunner, eventually going on to lose.

The 33-year-old is sadly no stranger to a red card or a penalty concession, suffering the third and sixth respectively since joining Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2019, the most of any player since then.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown blasted Luiz, saying he must learn his lessons after yet another error.

Keown said during the BT Sport's match commentary: 'If you don’t make any attempt to play the ball then you’ve only got yourself to blame.

'David Luiz has done this on more than one occasion I think he’s been sent off 3 other times for the exact same thing. You’ve got to learn.'

To make matters worse, they then went down to nine men after goalkeeper Bernd Leno was given his marching orders for a deliberate handball.

While there was controversy around the decision to send Luiz off for the foul rather than a yellow card, there is no hiding from his unwanted record.

'Ridiculous red card. But that doesn’t take away the fact that Luiz is a disaster waiting to happen', said @samer_21, while @imacalmguy joked: 'I love David Luiz’s selflessness and how willing he is to help other teams.

Fans of Chelsea, Luiz's former club, took joy in their London rivals suffering, with @CFCMod_ writing 'David Luiz fulfilling his Chelsea agent duties'.
