Spain have appointed former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique on a two-year contract following the exit of Fernando Hierro.
Enrique, who has also formerly coached Roma and Celta Vigo, will be the permanent boss of La Roja for the qualification campaign for the 2020 European Championships.
The Spanish FA confirmed earlier on Monday that former Villarreal boss Jose Francisco Molina has been appointed as the new sporting director, following the exit of Hierro.
The former Real Madrid captain left the role ahead of the World Cup to step in for outgoing Coach Julen Lopetegui but Spain’s exit at the last 16 stage had left both roles vacant.
A number of other candidates had been touted by the Spanish press including Quique Sanchez Flores, Paco Jemez, Michel, Roberto Martinez and Pepe Mel.
For Luis Enrique, this is his first position since he left Barcelona in the summer of 2017, after spending three years in the Camp Nou dugout, where he won three Copa del Reys, two LaLiga titles, one Champions League, one Supercopa de Espana, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.
The challenge for the new boss is to take Spain back to the top of the international game, as they have fallen in the group stages of the 2014 World Cup and at the last 16 stage at Euro 2016 and at this year's tournament.

yap! nobody can deny he is a best manager, but he will prove wrong if he cling with the outdated formation of keeping ball possession for long time, without scoring. This is what has recent costed them against Russia, they must change, because the current football is scoring goals not possessing the ball

its a good news for Spanish fan but there isn't solution because Real Madrid fan will say he is a Barcelona fan and former player of barcelona . Spain's world cup disaster start When Fernando became amanager of the national team because Barcelona fans said he is real Madrid legend. That isn't it because player have died their motivation however We say Enrique welcome welcome welcome...............

I think it's a good decision. He was the best possible option among all the candidates. He has many years of experience in Spanish league. He has a great team. It's like a last chance in 2022 Qatar for the remaining players of Spain's golden generation to win the world cup twice which includes Ramos, pique, busquets, alba etc. All the best to Luis Enrique and Spain for the future.

Well done Spain, finally made the right choice, Enrique has 1 UCL, 2 La Ligas and 3 Copa del Rays to his name as a Barcelona manager, he could possibly be the one who could bring Spain back on track, good luck Enrique.

Is Spain national football team choose him just in order to answer the questions from media?
