Barcelona plans €130M bid for Alvarez despite Atletico's legal action

According to Spanish media outlet Cadena SER, Barcelona plans to make an offer of €120 million to €130 million for Alvarez this summer, believing that Atletico Madrid's appeal to FIFA will be unlikely to succeed.

The saga surrounding Alvarez is intensifying. In recent months, reports have repeatedly suggested that the Argentine forward could leave Atletico Madrid. However, he has consistently deflected related questions, keeping his future uncertain. Multiple clubs have expressed interest, including Real Madrid and Barcelona. Real Madrid reportedly offered €150 million to sign him, while Barcelona appears most determined to secure him in the near future.

After months of evading the topic, Alvarez finally addressed the speculation. Following Argentina's victory over Austria, he told media that he had spoken with the club and would ideally like to leave to pursue his dream. Atletico Madrid reacted negatively to this statement. Believing the comments resulted from negotiations with Barcelona, they decided to file a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona.

Journalist Santi Ovalle revealed on Cadena SER that Barcelona is preparing a new offer for the Argentine forward to complete the transfer. He outlined Barcelona's strategy: "Barcelona will make a new offer, though not in the immediate term. This offer will be between €120 million and €130 million, as they have no intention of matching Real Madrid's €150 million bid."

When Real Madrid announced their €150 million offer, Barcelona's executives were fully aware they would not match that figure. Ovalle explained: "Upon learning of the offer, they made clear it would not change their plans, and they were not willing to go that high." Barcelona's strategy is therefore to submit a bid between €120 million and €130 million this summer to lure the player away from Madrid.

Regarding the legal action, Barcelona has not issued an official response. However, after speaking with club sources, Ovalle indicated that Barcelona is confident the case will not advance: "Their position is that the other party can do what they want, but there is no legal basis for this matter to proceed."

Barcelona is therefore preparing a fresh push for Alvarez, which could materialize in the coming weeks or months. However, they will not match Real Madrid's €150 million offer; instead, their ceiling is €130 million.
