Real Madrid put the ball in the back of Getafe's net during the first half of their Sunday night meeting in LaLiga Santander, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Mariano was said to have been ahead of the last defender when the ball was played forward by Eder Militao, with Jose Luis Munuera Montero in the VAR room advising Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez that the goal shouldn't count.
However, the frame shown in the graphic depicting the offside has created some confusion.
That's because, if you look closely, the ball had already left Militao's boot in the frame selected by the officials.
Fran Martinez (@LaLigaenDirecto), who analyses LaLiga refereeing decisions, claimed that the previous frame would have shown Mariano to be in a legal position. The image he published on Twitter can be seen below.

I wonder how this Barca team will ever grow to challenge the big names in football. Madrid has beaten you Him and away with 3-1 and 2-1 scoreline and you complain referees helped Madrid. I really pity a club that relies on fake penalties and red cards to win. That is exactly what us happening to Barca and the only trophy they can ever win with this attitude is their favourite Cops Del Rey. Shameless club suffering from inferiority complex
