According to Corriere dello Sport, Nico Paz's future remains uncertain, with Como representatives having traveled to Madrid to negotiate with Real Madrid.
Will he stay in Italy, return to Spain, or be taken elsewhere by some "dream move"? Nico Paz's future is yet to be written, but this meeting could mark the beginning of a new chapter. Como is on a mission in Madrid. Sporting director Carlalberto Lodi has arrived to communicate with Real Madrid and express the club's position. Como needs to be persuasive but direct: the club wants to keep this talented player who has flourished at Como and regained his value, and Nico Paz has proven himself enough to give Florentino Pérez reason for concern. Nico Paz is an asset—both technically and economically. That is Real Madrid's logic in a nutshell.
But Como also has leverage. Como has protected and developed this Argentine player, who recently made his senior international debut for Argentina. Such momentum is enough to dismiss any immediate transfer thoughts, yet the transfer topic has forcefully resurfaced. Now it is a contest between Real Madrid and Como, though depending on this meeting's outcome, the situation could expand to involve other clubs. It is unclear whether Internazionale will enter the picture, but the Nerazzurri are currently monitoring the situation. They will be ready to act if a market opportunity arises. However, everything remains uncertain for now: first, because this would be another expensive deal, and Nico Paz is also sought by other European giants; second, after disappointments with past targets, Internazionale is not prepared to pursue another high-profile signing blindly and risk coming away empty-handed. So Internazionale's stance is: wait and be cautious.
Regarding the Como-Real Madrid meeting: the Spanish side still holds a buy-back clause, with a deadline of June 30th. Before then, Real Madrid needs only €10 million to bring Nico back. Real Madrid sold him two years ago for €6 million, but this time it is not to keep him in their squad, as he would struggle for playing time, but to capitalize on the fact that the 2004-born player has already reached the Champions League with Como and attracted European attention. Real Madrid's valuation for him starts at €60 million. Another possibility is for Como to make a counter-offer, canceling the buy-back clause, to acquire full ownership of Paz for approximately €40 million, providing Real Madrid with an immediate accounting profit, though below Madrid's expectations. However, if a significant future resale percentage favorable to Real Madrid is included, the Spanish side's position might soften. The third option is to let the current buy-back clause expire and reactivate next year, when the fee would rise to €11 million. This means Madrid would only need to pay a still-reasonable fee 12 months later to reacquire Nico Paz, and after another season with Como, they would obtain a player whose value could be even higher. All parties hope this attacking midfielder can continue to shine in the Champions League spotlight for another year.
