How Man United could line-up in their first pre-season friendly against Leeds

Manchester United kick-off their pre-season schedule this afternoon in Oslo against Championship side Leeds with Mason Mount in line to make an appearance.

The 24-year-old’s £60m transfer to Old Trafford was confirmed last week making him the first - and only - signing of the window for Erik ten Hag's side.

The Dutch coach will be keen to begin integrating the former Chelsea man into what is expected to be an evolution of the 4-2-3-1 system he used last season.

United have taken a mix of first team regulars and academy youngsters to the Norwegian capital.

In the absence of a first-choice goalkeeper, Ten Hag’s pick for his stopper is between Tom Heaton, Nathan Bishop and Matej Kovar with at least two expected to get a run out on Wednesday.

At the back, seasoned vets Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are joined by youngsters Alvaro Fernandez, Rhys Bennett, Will Fish and Marc Jurado. While Brandon Williams completes the defensive unit.

United fans will be focused on the midfield that includes Mount alongside Fred with highly touted prospects Kobbie Mainoo, Maxi Oyedele, Hannibal, Charlie Savage, Toby Collyer and Dan Gore.

In the long run Mount’s addition could come at the expense of the Fred, but the Brazilian may be paired with the England international in the centre of the park for a portion of the tie against Leeds.

In attack, Jadon Sancho is the biggest name in the absence of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. The 23-year-old could form part of a front three with returning loanee Amad.

Noam Emeran, Omari Forson, Joe Hugill and Shola Shoretire are the other names in the frame to make an appearance.

Man United vs Leeds gets underway at 4pm at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway.
