According to Fabrizio Romano, reports claiming that Matheus Fernandes has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur and ruled out Manchester United are false. Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur remain actively competing for the midfielder, while Real Madrid has also expressed interest but has made no progress in negotiations.
"Many viewers have asked me over the past 24 hours: Is it true that he has settled with Tottenham Hotspur and is completely out of the running for Manchester United? Last week there were also rumors that he had agreed to join Manchester United, and some even claimed that Real Madrid had signed the player. All these reports are false.
"As I stated in my previous video, and as major media outlets have now confirmed, let me be clear: West Ham United will sell Matheus Fernandes to the highest bidder—whether that's Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Real Madrid, or any other club. West Ham treats all suitors equally.
Manchester United has been in extensive negotiations with the player's agent and has directly engaged with West Ham United, consistently pushing hard for this transfer. According to the information I have, which remains unchanged, Manchester United is still very much in contention. Tottenham Hotspur has not given up either; they are pursuing Sandro Tonali while simultaneously competing for Fernandes. Although Mourinho's Real Madrid has expressed interest in the midfielder, there has been no progress in negotiations so far.
West Ham United has made it clear to those close to the player: all clubs are welcome to submit offers, and our minimum asking price is £85 million. With multiple top clubs bidding, West Ham naturally hopes to maximize the transfer fee. Their objective is straightforward: secure the highest transfer fee possible, and the player will go to whoever bids the most. Of course, the player himself has personal preferences, different clubs offer varying salaries, and some have Champions League football. Each club will present its advantages, but West Ham's position is crystal clear: the highest bidder wins."

According to West arm, they don't care about the player, they just care of how much they can generate from his sale

Sir jim Ratcliffe, wait-and-see attitude and his unwanted frugality will cause man utd not to hire world class midfielders. Man utd board would had concluded the signing of mateus Fernandes long ago before Tottenham came knocking to highjack the target. Sir jim Radcliffe,do understand that to be competitive at the top of Epl, the team must have world class players. Success in Epl and Ucl don't cheap with second
That doesn't mean u pay such high transfer fees. Cunha, Mbuembo & Sesko came in range between 68 to 75 mil & 85 mil for M. Fernandes & that too from a relegated team. Man Utd should not be lured in such infame deals. M. Fernandes is worth between 55-65, not above that.

If he can’t be sold for 60 then United should go for Tonali instead and pay 100m
