Manchester City fans are supportive of club proposals to expand the North Stand at the Etihad Stadium to potentially see the total capacity rise above 60,000.

Club hierarchy are also exploring possibilities about establishing a hotel and entertainment facilities at the ground, which currently can holds 53,400 spectators. The North Stand is the only side of the stadium that does not have three tiers.

Feasibility studies have already commenced, these further looking into the possibility of a new shop and museum as well as the expansion of the ‘City Square’ fan-zone. The last expansion to the Etihad came in 2015 when 7,000 seats were installed in the South Stand.

An expansion above 60,000-capacity would make it one of the largest grounds in the Premier League with the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium holding a similar number while Liverpool’s expansion at Anfield is thought to be bumping the number of seats up to 61,000.

City fans and members, as well as the nearby community, are being asked to share their views in early 2023 ahead of consultations aligned with the Eastlands Regeneration Framework, which aims to rejuvenate the local area.

Some have already offered their feedback on social media, commenting on the Manchester Evening News website and on Twitter. Fans are supportive of the proposals and are glad to see the club making positive steps towards growth.
