23-year-old Chelsea player is now running further than any of his teammates

UEFA's stats revealed that Kai Havertz covered the most ground in Chelsea's recent victory against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Despite lining up in the false nine role, he still managed to top the charts in terms of distance covered in a game where he and his teammates left everything on the pitch.

The German found the net at the second time of asking from the penalty spot, as the Blues carried out a superb comeback against the Bundesliga leaders.

It was a big performance from the 23-year-old, who has not been short of his critics since he has become a regular in the central position of the attack.

Graham Potter is seemingly unmoved by the prospect of featuring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front, with the pair seemingly falling out earlier this year.

The under-pressure manager finally reaped the rewards of sticking by Havertz, as he relieved some of the stress with a big victory.

Havertz covering most distance

Havertz's critics are not new either, however it has not always been a case of his abilities being slandered.

Two years ago, pundit Peter Crouch described him as 'lazy' after the Blues were defeated in the Champions League in 2021.

It is therefore a credit to the effort the Germany international is putting in to change his personal fortunes and become a success at Stamford Bridge.

He will almost certainly be handed the opportunity to impress again tomorrow when the Blues return to Premier League action against Leicester City tomorrow.

There will likely be some familiar faces around him, however some of those who did not start on Tuesday may be hopeful of an appearance too.
