Andre Onana has arrived at Milan airport as he prepares to board his flight to England and complete his move to Manchester United.

The shot-stopper is set to become Erik ten Hag's second signing of the summer after Inter agreed to sell the Cameroon goalkeeper in a deal worth up to £47.1million.

United will pay an initial fee of £43.7m plus potentially another £3.4m in add-ons for Onana who will sign a five-year contract with the option of a 12-month extension.

The 27-year-old will fly into Birmingham airport before settling down for the night before heading to United's Carrington training complex on Wednesday to complete his medica.

Onana has already agreed personal terms with the club and will be announced as United's new number one once he has successfully passed all pre-transfer checks.

Onana enjoyed a low-key departure as he arrived at Milan airport in a black Mercedes van and was seen arriving with a small-numbered entourage.

Some Italian football fans appeared to be expecting the Cameroonian and asked for photos - that Onana obliged with - before the player headed into the airport.

He was dressed in a white tshirt and white tracksuit bottoms as he looks to get comfortable on board the two hour 10 minute flight to the Midlands.

Onana also sported a dazzling Rolex as cameras followed him through the airport before he disappeared before the departure zone in what appears to be a private terminal.

His arrival in Manchester comes after Erik ten Hag wanted a new No 1 to replace David de Gea after deciding he wanted a keeper who is more comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Onana is a specialist in that respect, having established a reputation as a sweeper keeper who likes to come out of his box to link up play.

He becomes United’s second new signing of the summer after Mason Mount moved from Chelsea in a deal worth up to £60m.

Ten Hag will be delighted to get two of his main transfer targets through the door so early in pre-season so they can start integrating with the rest of the squad on the four-match tour of the US.

The 27-year-old, who was a Barcelona academy graduate before joining Ajax, arrived at the San Siro on a free transfer last summer after enduring a nine-month ban for doping.

According to Ajax, he tested positive for the banned substance Furosemide.

Last season, Onana played 41 games in all competitions for the Italian giants and helped them win the Italian Cup, keeping 19 clean sheets in all competitions.

He also featured in Inter's 1-0 defeat by Manchester City in the Champions League final last month.
