There can now be little doubt as to Kylian Mbappé’s (25) destination this summer. Having informed Paris Saint-Germain of his decision to leave the club at the end of the season, a deal has been agreed for the France captain to join Real Madrid, according to the BBC.
Whilst PSG are yet to make an official statement regarding Mbappé’s future, it is now common knowledge that Les Parisiens have been informed of his decision to depart upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season. Despite reported interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, Real Madrid have always been the strong favourite to secure Mbappé’s signature.
The BBC now report that Mbappé is set to sign a five-year deal with Los Blancos, worth €15m per season, whilst the AS Monaco academy product will also earn a €150m signing-on bonus, which is to be paid over five years.
Whilst a deal is agreed, it is not yet signed and the agreement is only likely to be announced once it becomes impossible for PSG to meet Real Madrid in the Champions League. Both sides hold leads going into the second legs of their Round of 16 ties.
In the event of Luka Modrić leaving the Bernabeu in the summer, Mbappé would then likely inherit the Croatian international’s No.10 jersey for next season.
