Arsenal transfer round-up: stance on Nketiah exit and Patson Daka update

Arsenal are facing important decisions on a number of players as the January transfer window kicks into gear.

The Gunners landed their first new signing last week, purchasing centre-back Omar Rekik from Hertha Berlin for £500,000.

The Tunisian has linked up with his Under-23 teammates, while Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has begun trimming his squad by sending out Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba on loan.

Arteta's attention now turns to the futures of West Ham-target Eddie Nketiah and Lucas Torreira, who has endured a challenging loan spell with Atletico Madrid but is a target for a Serie A club.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are firmly in the race for RB Salzburg star Patson Daka, but the prolific Zambia international is attracting plenty of other suitors in the Premier League.

Here is Monday's Arsenal transfer round-up.

Arsenal's stance on Nketiah

Arsenal will reportedly not part ways with Eddie Nketiah this month, despite West Ham's recent links with the young striker.

Nketiah, 21, emerged as a target for the Irons as they look to replace Sebastien Haller, who joined Ajax earlier this week.

But various reports, cited by the  Daily Express , claim Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has "no intention" of selling the England Under-21 international.

Nketiah has scored five goals in 20 appearances this season and was on the bench for the extra-time victory over Newcastle in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.

London rivals could land Daka

Speaking of West Ham, the Irons are one of a number of clubs reportedly rivalling Arsenal for the signature of RB Salzburg star Patson Daka.

The 22-year-old Zambia international has plundered 15 goals in 17 games this season to attract numerous suitors in the Premier League.

Tottenham and Liverpool are also believed to be monitoring Daka, while the  Daily Express  claims West Ham have been offered the striker for £25million.

The Irons are searching for a replacement for Sebastien Haller, who moved to Ajax for £20million last week.

But the report adds Arsenal see Daka as a potential heir to Alexandre Lacazette's No.9 berth, as the Frenchman has entered the final 18 months of his deal.

Gunners face Torreira decision

Arsenal are facing a conundrum over Lucas Torreira's future amid the midfielder's lack of play time with Atletico Madrid and interest from Italy.

Torreira, 24, joined Atletico on a season-long loan last October but the Uruguayan has managed just two starts in La Liga.

Meanwhile, Serie A club Fiorentina are keen on the player and Italian newspaper  La Nazione  claims they are confident of striking a deal.

If Arsenal wish to permanently part ways with Torreira in the January window, they will need to terminate his loan with Atletico.
