Unwanted Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack will see his wages rocket to £70,000 a week at Villa Park after the club secured their place in the Premier League next season.
The 32-year-old has struggled to make an impact at the club since making a £12million move from Fulham in 2016 but he will now be rewarded with a big-money deal due to a clause in his contract.
McCormack has been sent out on loan to four different clubs during his three years at Villa and he has made just 24 appearances for the club, with his most recent coming 616 days ago in the League Cup.
The Scotland international was brought in by then manager Roberto di Matteo but was replaced by Steve Bruce.
McCormack fell out of favour with Bruce shortly after his arrival after bizarrely missing a training session due to a faulty gate at his house.
He was then banished to train with the Under 23s but refused to apologise for the incident.
And it's not just McCormack who will receive a new deal due to Villa winning promotion.
The club will reportedly have to fork out an extra £4m in wages after commitments were made by former owner Dr Tony Xia who sanctioned a spending spree after taking over from Randy Lerner.
Dr Xia bid to get Villa back to the top flight failed until new owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris bought the club in July 2018.
Misfits Scott Hogan, Gary Gardner, James Bree and Henri Lansbury will also benefit from the promotion with Gardner set to receive a huge rise along with McCormack.
Hogan, Gardner, Bree and Lansbury made just 17 league appearances for Villa between them this season, with Lansbury the only player to remain at the club while the others were sent out on loan.
Both Gardner and McCormack's contracts at the club are due to expire at the end of next season while Hogan and Lansbury have two years left on their current deals.
