Andreas Christensen appears to have completed a lifelong dream of sealing a move to Barcelona after a handwritten note from his childhood revealed his future ambitions.

The Denmark international completed a switch to the Nou Camp on Thursday following the expiry of his Chelsea contract after ten years at Stamford Bridge having initially joined the club's youth academy.

Christensen has penned a four-year deal at Barca, with a release clause in the region of £420million.

Barca have since revealed a handwritten note from the 26-year-old back in 2004 that revealed his grown up ambition to play for the Spanish giants.

Written in incredibly neat handwriting with a pencil, the message written in Danish translates to: 'I dream about being a professional footballer and playing for FC Barcelona.'

The note is posted along with an image of Christensen kissing the Barcelona badge following his unveiling on Thursday.

Reflecting on his hand written message from his youth, Christensen described his pride at completing a lifelong dream.

'I'm proud, it's a dream come true,' the Dane said. 'Since I was little, it's been written that I wanted it to be this way. Thank you for making my dream come true and I hope to give me best.

'I feel very proud. Since I was eight years old, I put my dreams on paper and wrote 'playing for Barcelona'. That's why I feel proud and eager to start playing.'

Speaking on the challenges that now face him at the Spanish club, Christensen admits he has much to learn but will look to benefit from senior players at the club including fellow centre-back Gerard Pique.

'There is a lot of competition, but it's healthy. I can learn a lot from all the players, the defenders,' Christensen said. 'Pique has been around for a long time, he's a legend.

'My goal is to play, that's what all footballers think. There is competition and, for me, it is healthy. It makes me improve and try harder. I don't want to say I'm competing with anyone by name because all the defenders are magnificent.'

Reflecting on his hand written message from his youth, Pique displayed his pride at completing a lifelong dream.

'I'm proud, it's a dream come true,' the Dane said. 'Since I was little, it's been written that I wanted it to be this way. Thank you for making my dream come true and I hope to give me best.
