Bayern announce club’s home kits will only feature red & white

Bayern Munich have announced that blue will no longer feature on their home kit after discussions with fans.

In recent seasons, the colour has been added to their first-choice strip, but the club's supporters have complained as blue is the primary colour of main rivals Munich 1860.

Their latest kit features blue shorts and blue trim on the socks and shirt. Previous attire, including the 2014-2015 strip, had several vertical stripes along the shirt, at the time a big break from tradition.

Supporters' groups have also complained about the club's green away kit and third jersey in purple, claiming they do not reflect the club's history.

Club director Jorg Wacker told the club's website: 'FC Bayern München AG has been in conversation with fan representatives about the use of club colours in kits.

'For fans, kits represent an important sign of identity with their club.

'FC Bayern München AG has thus announced that in future, only the club's traditional colours of red and white will be used in official match clothing - that is the home kit comprising shirt, shorts and socks.

'We will also stay in regular contact with fan representatives in relations to kits.'
