Arsenal defender Ben White has reportedly been rewarded with a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

The 26-year-old has become a regular part of Mikel Arteta's defence at the Emirates since joining for £50m in the summer of 2021.

This season, he has made 39 appearances in all competitions, playing a big part in their push to win a first Premier League title in two decades.

As reported by The Athletic, White has now signed a new and improved long-term deal with the league leaders.

His previous deal was set to expire in 2026, though his contract signing is reportedly set to be officially announced by the end of the week.

White had been in talks with the Gunners over improved terms for several months, with those discussions said to have reached a positive conclusion.

Having played as a centre-back at Brighton, he has impressed as a right back this season to accommodate Arsenal's starting central pair of William Saliba and Gabriel.

Asked about White's contract situation earlier in the season, Arteta said: 'We are always trying to keep the squad in a healthy position in any way, and the club and Edu especially are working on that.'

White has made 121 appearances for the Gunners since his arrival from Brighton.

The Gunners have a long break until they next play after the international break.

After moving to the top of the table at the weekend, their place at the top faces a serious test when they travel to Manchester City on March 31.
