Karim Benzema has reportedly apologised to Vinicius Junior after urging his Real Madrid team-mates to not pass to him during Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Benzema was caught on camera accusing Vinicius of 'playing against us' while talking with Ferland Mendy during their 2-2 draw with Monchengladbach.

But Benzema looked to clear things up with the Brazilian by approaching him at the club's training facility to explain himself and apologise for what was said, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

It is believed the pair have come to an understanding and that Benzema’s comments were made in the heat of the moment.

Benzema and Vinicius are said to be on good terms following the discussion, and will maintain a healthy working relationship.

The tension stemmed from footage that was released following the game on Tuesday. The clip showed the Real Madrid players filtering out from the dressing room and into the tunnel for the second half, with Vinicius stood within earshot of both Benzema and Mendy.

In a conversation spoken in French, Benzema tells Mendy: 'Don't play with him. On my mother's life, he [Vinicius] is playing against us.

'He [Vinicius] does not do anything useful,' with the left back replying: 'When he becomes scared, he loses what makes him great.'

Following the conversation, Marca reported that Mendy only passed the ball to Vinicius - who both play on the left - three times during the second half following the conversation.

The incident involving Benzema on Tuesday evening came just days after Isco was caught criticising Zinedine Zidane during El Clasico, leading to more claims of unrest in the Real Madrid training room.
