Ryan Bertrand wore specially designed boots for Southampton's clash with Chelsea, which paid tribute to Black History Month.

The white boots had an image of Martin Luther King on the side, along with his famous quote, 'I have a dream'.

Black History Month is an annual event that takes place in October in the United Kingdom and aims to celebrate and remember the important people and moments in the history of African diaspora.

Bertrand's boots were in tribute of the iconic figure that is Martin Luther King, although there are a number of other important people celebrated during the month.

The 29-year-old, a former Chelsea player, wore the Nike boots during Southampton's defeat to the Blues in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Saints crashed to a third straight defeat in the league as goals from Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley and Alvaro Morata saw them lose 3-0.

Chelsea capitalised on a mistake from Southampton for the first goal as they gave away possession to Barkley, before Hazard found the net.

In a rare start for the Englishman, he then went on to score himself shortly after half-time, before Morata got on the score-sheet in stoppage time with his third goal of the season.

Southampton remain winless at home this season and sit 16th in the league with five points, while Chelsea moved up to second, behind Man City on goal difference.
