Better than Salah & Kane, only Henry has better goal ratio than Aguero

Sergio Aguero has the second-best goal ratio in Premier League history among those who have scored over 100 goals, with only Thierry Henry bettering the Manchester City legend.

Aguero has sadly been forced to retire from football at the age of 33 due to a heart problem, with this being confirmed on Wednesday this week.

The Barcelona striker suffered a cardiac arrhythmia in a game versus Alaves in October and has been advised to hang up his boots for health reasons.

He only joined the Blaugrana this past summer on a free transfer from Manchester City where he enjoyed a legendary spell.

In 10 years at the club, he scored 260 goals in all competitions and won five Premier League titles.

What is Aguero’s goal ratio in the Premier League?

In the Premier League itself, Aguero scored an incredible 184 goals in 275 games. That translates to a ratio of 0.67 goals per game.

Of all the players who have scored over 100 goals in the Premier League, only one player has a better goal ratio than Aguero. And only just.

That is Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, who scored 175 goals in 258 games – a ratio of 0.68 goals per match.

Aguero has a better goal ratio than Tottenham icon Harry Kane. The Englishman has scored 167 goals in 258 games at a rate of 0.65.

Mohamed Salah has a goal ratio of 0.64 after finding the net 111 times in 174 games.

Other Premier League legends who Aguero bettered include Alan Shearer (260 goals in 441 game at a ratio of 0.59), Ian Wright (113 goals in 213 games at a ratio of 0.53), as well as Robin van Persie (144 goals in 280 games at a ratio of 0.51).

Everyone else in the 100-goal club have a goal ratio of less than one goal every two games.

Aguero is best remembered at Manchester City for scoring the title-clinching goal of 2011-12, netting deep into stoppage time on the final day of the season against QPR to deny Manchester United the crown.
