Norwich City star Todd Cantwell has spoken about competing against Liverpool in his side's 1-0 defeat on Saturday.
Suggestions emerged in the national press this week that Cantwell was on the Reds' radar - despite not being an "active target" at present.
And the attacking midfielder believes his side were unlucky not to get a draw when the two teams met at the weekend.
But he admitted Norwich were facing some of the "best players" on the planet.
Cantwell, 21, told his club's website:"[Liverpool] are the best team in the world at the moment but they came to Carrow Road and didn't have an easy game - that's a credit to everyone.
"The resilience we've shown at home is something positive we can take but it's a shame we've got nothing to show for it again. It's been a bit of a reoccurring event.
"The way Sadio Mane takes that out of the air and the way he snaps at it with his weaker foot [for the goal] is frightening.
"We knew we were up against some of the best players in the world.
"Any sniff of a chance and you've got a horrible feeling they're going to take it."
Addressing his own situation, Cantwell added: "I'm honestly thankful every game that the manager selects me to start in.
"I'd like to think I'm repaying that and every time I put on that shirt, I'll give 100%.
"I think I'm improving game by game and I feel like I'm becoming a better footballer.
"On a personal note, I'm loving it, playing in the Premier League against the best."
Norwich are rooted to the bottom of the table and look like near-certainties to go down.
If the rumoured interest is genuine and the Reds move for Cantwell in summer, it could continue a pattern from recent campaigns.
Liverpool have swooped for several players from relegated teams of late - with very successful results.
Gini Wijnaldum, Andy Robertson and Xherdan Shaqiri were all signed after their sides suffered the drop.
