As one of the players who have been told to find new clubs by Paris Saint-Germain, Marco Verratti now looks set to leave the Ligue 1 champions after over a decade in the French capital.
As with several of PSG’s current and former stars this transfer window (Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé) the Italian international has attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, as part of the Gulf state’s lucrative offensive on European football this summer. Les Parisiens have turned down two offers from Al-Hilal, while the Italian has effectively been sidelined from the first team.
However, Foot Mercato indicate this evening that the Euro 2020 winner is keen to stay in Europe. While earlier reports pointed to a possible move by Atlético Madrid, Chelsea have now emerged as a potential destination for the 30-year-old. Verratti, who has a record nine Ligue 1 titles and 419 appearances with PSG, is under contract for another three years.
