Chelsea open to sending Lukaku back to Inter on two conditions

Reports in Italy suggest Chelsea are open to sending Romelu Lukaku back to Inter on a paid loan or by including one of the Nerazzurri stars in a swap deal.

Thomas Tuchel had a transfer summit with the Blues’ new owners yesterday and Gazzetta dello Sport, Tuttosport and Il Corriere dello Sport report the German tactician won’t stand against Lukaku’s exit. That’s hardly a surprise given that the former Manchester United star only scored 15 goals in 44 appearances with the Blues last term.

However, the Blues invested €113m in his signature less than a year ago and Inter can only welcome the player back on loan.

According to La Il Corriere dello Sport, Inter would need to pay at least €25m for the striker’s season loan, but given Inter’s finances, it’s hard to imagine the Nerazzurri invest as much to get the player for just one season.

The other path could see the Nerazzurri offer one of their stars to re-sign Lukaku permanently. Lautaro Martinez, Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar are among the options for the Blues, but it remains to be seen if the Nerazzurri would sacrifice one of their stars to welcome Lukaku back.
