Paul Scholes will take temporary charge of Salford City, the club he co-owns with the Class of 92, after current manager Graham Alexander was sacked.
But former England and Manchester United midfielder, a co-owner of the club with Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt, will not be a long-term appointment, with a new coach expected to be appointed later this month.
But Scholes will be in charge of training at the League 2 club, who drew 2-2 with Tranmere on Saturday, and will be on the bench at Port Vale on Saturday.
Warren Joyce, the club's development manager, who would have stepped in is currently isolating, hence the reappearance of Scholes on the bench.
He previously took the job of his home town Oldham in 2019 but resigned after a month citing interference from the owner.
And he managed Salford City with Phil Neville in 2015 for one game when Phil Parkinson was sacked when the club were still in the Northern Premier League Division One North.
