Could Mario Balotelli be on his way BACK to England? 'Watford linked with move'

Mario Balotelli could be returning to England with reports in Italy linking him with a move to Championship outfit Watford.

The 30-year-old striker has played for both Manchester City and Liverpool, winning the Premier League with the former, and currently plies his trade at Brescia in Italy.

But Watford has been mooted as a possible destination for Balotelli before the transfer window shuts tonight, according to Calciomercato.

The forward still has two years left on the deal at the club but Brescia were relegated to Serie B last season. Balotelli notched just five goals in 19 appearances as they dropped down from the Italian top flight.

He has endured a frustrating period at Brescia with his relationship starting to unravel when the club updated his medical details on their official website to claim the striker was eight kilos overweight.

Balotelli was also refused entry into the training ground once sessions resumed following the lifting of coronavirus lockdown restrictions in Italy. He has not featured for the club since March 9.

Genoa have also shown an interest in Balotelli while The Athletic have reported that a source close to the player refused to be drawn on Balotelli's future.

Watford have brought in Glenn Murray and Stipe Perica in attack this summer but were left to rue missed chances in their 1-0 defeat by Reading at the weekend.
