Peter Crouch angered wife Abbey Clancy by pretending he had got a tattoo.

Former England striker Crouch, 38, has turned his hand at hosting his very own BBC podcast after hanging up his boots.

To celebrate the return of That Peter Crouch Podcast, the former footballer decided he would prank his wife by telling her he had been inked.

Crouch pretended to get a tattoo of himself (looking very different) doing his famous robot celebration, accompanied by the slogan 'Back stronger'.

As he made his way to the parlour, the former Liverpool and Tottenham hitman admitted it was "possibly the worst tattoo anyone has ever seen".

He also conceded wife Abbey would be far from impressed, adding: "She is going to be fuming - I hope she goes for it."

After the fake tattoo was added, Crouch decided it was time to broach the subject with his wife on FaceTime.

With the camera crew behind him, Crouch asked: "I have just done something. Promise me you won't go mental?

Abbey refuses to do so before the big reveal sparks a stunned reaction.

"Oh my god. You are joking. Who is that person on it? That is you about 25 stone heavier," she says.

Crouch attempts to justify his artwork, insisting: "My two favourite things in the world are the podcast and the robot. I thought it would be funny."

But Abbey is having none of it.

"You will look like a d*** on the beach so that is down to you," she adds.

"If that is on your arm, don't come home."

The model then swiftly puts the phone down on Crouch as the former striker and camera crew burst into laughter.

After letting her stew, Crouch decides it is time to come clean with a follow-up call.

"I haven't really got a tattoo, you know. It is a fake one," he confesses, before being trolled by his wife.

"I don't even think David Beckham can carry off the tattoos never mind you," Abbey laughs.
