David de Gea makes the most of being rested by United with lunch trip

David de Gea has been making the most of a rare weekend off as he was left back in Manchester by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Friday's FA Cup clash with Arsenal.

The Spain international was rested by the interim manager and was not on the train that took United down to London on Thursday afternoon.

Instead, Sergio Romero looks set to take his place between the sticks at the Emirates on Friday evening, leaving the 28-year-old to take advantage of some much needed R&R.

He did just that at lunchtime, heading out with two friends to a local restaurant in Cheshire.

De Gea has played every single minute of Manchester United's Premier League season to date, keeping four clean sheets - including two in his last three appearances as they look to get their season back on track.

United are still in the Champions League, meaning they are currently battling on three fronts.

While there is a need to keep De Gea fresh, the Norwegian must also reinvogirate some of his other stars, and he sees the Emirates as the perfect venue to help Alexis Sanchez rediscover his mojo.

‘I think he’ll love it if the crowd turn against him,' he said, speaking about the Chilean's first return to his former club.

'As a player, pride kicks in and you think, “I’ll show all of you”.

‘He has been fantastic in training, his attitude has been spot on, so hopefully he’ll enjoy the game.’
