Man City playmaker is one off 50 Premier League assists and can reach landmark faster than Arsenal star.
Kevin De Bruyne can underline his status as one of the most prolific creators in Premier League history by beating Mesut Ozil's assist record if he provides a goal for Manchester City at AFC Bournemouth on Sunday.
The City playmaker set up both his side's goals in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur. That left him one away from 50 assists in the Premier League.
De Bruyne has reached 49 assists in just 122 matches and is set to hit a half-century quicker than any of the 36 players who have reached that total.
The fastest to 50 Premier League assists is Ozil, who took 141 appearances for Arsenal to do so. De Bruyne has 18 matches to provide his 50th assist and beat the German.
Fewest appearances to 50 PL assists
De Bruyne also boasts the best average for minutes per assist, among established Premier League players.
The 28-year-old has set up a goal every 189 minutes. This is 25 minutes quicker on average than the next-best player, former Arsenal forward Jose Antonio Reyes.
Top 10 averages for minutes per assist
Having set up three goals this season, De Bruyne is the early leader in the race for the 2019/20 Playmaker award, which is given to the player with the most assists each season.
The Belgian is aiming to reclaim that title after winning the inaugural award in 2017/18 with 16 assists.
De Bruyne has some way to go to challenge the all-time Premier League assist record of 162, set by Ryan Giggs.
