Tottenham-linked forward Paulo Dybala has featured for Juventus during a pre-season friendly against Novara - just 24 hours before the English transfer window closes.

Sportsmail revealed that Tottenham are now the front-runners to sign Dybala and have agreed a £69m (€75m) fee for the forward. However, his exorbitant wage demands remain a stumbling block to any transfer.

The 25-year-old scored during the pre-season run-out on Wednesday evening against Novara, who play in Italy's third tier, Serie C.

Douglas Costa, who was also previously linked with a move to Manchester United, skipped to the byline before cutting back for Dybala, who prodded home amid little celebration.

Gonzalo Higuain, Mario Mandzukic and Matthijs de Ligt were also on target for the Old Lady, as new coach Maurizio Sarri watched on during a comfortable 4-0 win.

Dybala is demanding £300,000-per-week, far in excess of Tottenham's highest earner Harry Kane, who earns £200,000-per-week. Added to this is complications regarding his agent fee and image rights, with Manchester United withdrawing their interest over a £15m cut for his agent.

The forward's entourage has suggested that Dybala is open to a move to Spurs, while his partner, Oriana Sabatini, is also understood to have advised him that she would also like to live in London.

Dybala's transfer fee is needed by Juventus to fund a last-gasp move for United striker Romelu Lukaku, and the Italian giants would be faced with both missing out on their top target and being left with a player they clearly no longer value.

Lukaku, meanwhile, currently looks set to join Inter Milan, after Antonio Conte's side returned with an improved bid of £72million, which has been accepted.
