Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj could renew his contract with the Partenopei, thanks in small part to Rino Gattuso’s arrival as coach.
Hysaj was a bit-part player under Carlo Ancelotti at the club, and it looked like a departure was imminent, with Roma interested in the player.
However Ancelotti was sacked in mid-December, and was replaced by Gattuso.
The Albania international’s contract expires at the end of next season, and Il Mattino believes that a renewal is now possible.
This is because Gattuso supposedly values Hysaj for his ability to play either at right or left back.
The 26-year-old has played 13 times in Serie A this season, providing one assist.
