Fans were divided by the 'unhinged' actions of Roy Hodgson after the Crystal Palace manager spat in disgust after their late defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday evening.
Noni Madueke's 89th minute penalty gave the Blues a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge, which extended Crystal Palace's winless streak to eight games.
A clip from the end of the match showed the 76-year-old Palace boss spitting furiously on the pitch, and it appears to have divided the internet, with Hodgson receiving both plaudits and condemnation for his act.
One Reddit user wrote: 'I love how unhinged Roy is this year'.
Noting the age and seemingly near retirement of the legendary manager, one wrote: 'Retirement tour Roy is great entertainment', while another added: 'There’s something very funny about a 76 year old doing that'.
A fourth Reddit user commented by saying: 'Roy’s zero f***s approach to this season has turned me into a massive fan. Absolutely here for it.'
However, not everyone was impressed by the 76-year-old's action, with one going so far as to call to 'Ban him!'
Another claimed: 'He should know better old Roy', while a third said they were 'recoiling' from looking at the short clip.
One user questioned why Hodgson was even angry, writing : 'I can't understand what he would have to complain about, the only decision that went against them was a stonewall penalty.'
The game was decided by a penalty conceded by Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, when he fouled Madueke in the box.
The incident was initially missed by Michael Salisbury, but after a VAR check, the referee was encouraged to check the screen, when it was awarded.
Speaking on the penalty after the game, Hodgson told reporters: 'We just have to accept there's two referees every game and every time something happens on the field of play and the referee makes the decision, you still have to wait several minutes just in case somebody in the studio, someone hasn't whispered in his ear that he's seen something different.'
Following eight consecutive games without a win, Crystal Palace are just four points above the drop.
They host Brentford on Saturday afternoon before a home FA Cup tie against Everton on January 4, their final commitment before their two-week winter break.
