Manchester United were mocked by rival supporters after they revealed plans for an 'atmosphere section' at Old Trafford.
From next season, 1,200 seats in the first tier of the Stretford End will be dedicated to those who wish to belt out their backing for the home side following successful trials.
And from the 2021-22 season, the section will be doubled as part of a partnership between the club and fans' group Red Army.
But while United see this as a positive venture in improving the atmosphere at home games, fans of the club's rivals saw it as the perfect opportunity to laugh at their expense.
One user wrote: 'No atmosphere - How embarrassing .... Next they'll be playing crowd noise thru [sic] the speakers....'
For others, words were not even necessary as they resorted to flooding replies with laughing emoji faces.
The announcement came alongside news that United are freezing season ticket prices once more. It is the eighth year in a row the club have frozen prices.
Some United fans tried to defend the decision to improve the atmosphere and insisted the new move does not mean the current atmosphere is not one of the best in the division.
But the mock replies to the club's tweet dominated and soon there was a vast collection of people laughing at United's expense.
Even United fan Callum Tosh could not resist when he sarcastically wrote: "Come on lads! Lets have a few beets then get down the atmosphere section. It's almost always a good time!'
