Fekir looks downcast as he goes through Lyon photo shoot

Footage has emerged of Nabil Fekir looking extremely downcast as he posed for a selection of shots for Lyon's club photo shoot after a move to Liverpool collapsed earlier this summer.

The French playmaker was on the verge of a £53million switch to the Reds in June when negotiations came to a complete halt due to doubts over the 25-year-old's fitness.

He was seen as the long-term replacement for Philippe Coutinho but medical complications arose after a lucrative five-year deal had been agreed.

He has since been away and won the World Cup with France but the attacker looked miserable as he took part in photo duties for the Ligue 1 side on Wednesday.

Fekir can be seen in a video tweeted by Lyon's official account pulling several poses with a gloomy and dejected expression across his face.

Fans were quick to notice his bleak outlook on social media and suggested his misery was because a switch to Anfield never materialised.

One posted: 'He really does not want to be there', while another shared an image of smiling in a Liverpool shirt.

Fekir has insisted he has 'totally come to terms' with the collapsed deal and admits he doesn't know the reason it broke down.

'Yes, I have totally come to terms with the failed transfer to Liverpool,' he told Foot Mercato last week. 'These things happen, it's just how it is. We have to move on, it's well in the past now.'

Asked why the deal came to a halt, Fekir replied: 'I heard lots of things, the real reason? Only Liverpool know.'

Fekir made his competitive return for Lyon against Strasbourg on Friday night having enjoyed a break following the World Cup. He came on as a 79th minute substitute as goals from Martin Terrier and Bertrand Traore sealed a comfortable 2-0 Ligue 1 win.
