Napoli suffers a second misstep in their preseason friendly series: in Castel di Sangro, Brest wins 2-1. The big news is Vanja Milinkovic-Savic's debut in goal, with the former Torino player replacing Meret. The first chance falls to the French side after eight minutes, with Ajorque's right-footed shot from the edge of the area well over the crossbar. The Italian champions responded shortly afterward with captain Di Lorenzo, but the score was the same. In the 28th minute, however, Ajorque himself put the French side ahead with a left-footed save from close range in the six-yard box, assisted by Locko, with Beukema too softly marking him.
Shortly afterward, on the counterattack, the scorer of the 1-0 lead almost scored a brace, but Milinokvic-Savic stretched to his right and blocked. In the 33rd minute, however, the 2-0 lead was inevitable, with Ajorque again, this time with a header from a Lees-Melou cross. Napoli responded shortly before halftime with a splendid back-heel from De Bruyne that hit the post.
Conte restarted with the same eleven, but they failed to threaten, so on the half-hour mark Neres was replaced by Politano. It was a move that paid off, as Lucca closed the gap in the 63rd minute with an assist from the former Inter player. The scorer of the Campania side's only goal, shortly after, comes off, making way for Lukaku, then Anguissa, too. He and De Bruyne are the most dangerous: the former just misses the target with a header, the Belgian tries a shot from the edge of the box, but Coudert saves. The scoreline ends 2-1: Napoli's second defeat.
