Gabriel Martinelli has posted a message after scoring for Arsenal in pre-season as the Gunners aim to challenge for the Premier League title next season

Gabriel Martinelli has sent a clear warning to Arsenal’s title rivals.

The Brazilian forward was a key part of the Gunners’ title challenge last season as he continued to improve under the tutelage of Mikel Arteta. Martinelli scored 15 league goals and added another five assists, featuring in 36 games.

It has been an exciting summer for the club so far, with the arrival of three impressive signings helping to bolster Arsenal's title hopes ahead of the upcoming season. The team have been gelling during their pre-season tour in the USA and recorded a 5-0 win over an MLS All-Star XI, coached by Wayne Rooney.

Martinelli got on the scoresheet with a typically assured finish, sliding the ball into the far corner for the team’s fourth goal. After the final whistle, Martinelli posted on social media that he was “hungry for more”, indicating that he is eager to notch up another impressive goal tally next term.

Arsenal will be hopeful that through the additions of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber they can take the final step to Premier League glory. Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney was certainly impressed with the Gunners, having witnessed them at close quarters as MLS All-Star coach.

"I really like the players Arsenal have signed. They've signed players with experience which is important. Players with size as well. I think they'll do better than last season. They have a really good coach in Mikel Arteta."

Rooney believes Manchester City will inevitably start as favourites and expects Arsenal’s other rivals to also improve. However, the D.C. United boss feels that the Gunners will firmly be in the title picture.

"I think the signings they’ve made have been really good signings for them to try and kick on and challenge Manchester City,” he said, prior to the All-Star game. [City] will be the favourites again to win the Premier League.

"I think Liverpool will be better next season, Chelsea will be better. Hopefully Manchester United will be better as well! But I think Arsenal have made some really good signings and they will compete again."
