WHEN Ezequiel Garay tested positive for the coronavirus, he must've felt family life was over for the time being as he placed himself in quarantine in his home away from his wife and kids.
But, thanks to his Wag Tamara Gorro, he hasn't missed out on events like celebrating Father's Day in Spain, and they have shared their heart-breaking experience with the disease on Instagram.
The past few months have been difficult for the Argentinian defender after he suffered a season-ending ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury playing for Valencia in February.
Then, just a few weeks later, it was confirmed he was the first La Liga player to be diagnosed with COVID-19.
However, Garay, 33, isn't letting it get him down as he recovers, and these candid snaps capture romantic moments the pair have shared living with coronavirus, including Skype calls from other rooms of their home.
'TE AMO'
Last week, Garay posted a touching image as he had to come to terms with self-isolation.
Locked away in his bedroom, and wearing a face mask, he can be seen looking lovingly through the window.
Reflecting against the window is the image of Tamara, who can be seen blowing a kiss on the other side and pressing the palm of her hand against his.
He captioned the romantic snap: "She's always with me, whatever happens ... I love you very much my love. THANK YOU."
And few could argue with such a powerful photo.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
After Italy, Spain is the worst hit European nation suffering from COVID-19 infections and deaths.
On Tuesday the death toll jumped by 514 in one day. Official figures show that 2,696 people have died.
The recent events disrupted any opportunity for families to celebrate Father's Day, which happened in Spain on March 19.
Garay, who has a daughter and a son with Gorro, was always going to be celebrated.
Wearing a mask, his wife gave him a card as well as a cake.
She wrote: "HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD!!!
"We had another type of celebration in mind, but as you well know, what you plan does not always take effect.
"It is true that we have not started this year in the best way. We are removing the stones from our path, but they continue to appear.
"But when have we given up? NEVER. How many times have they beaten us? NEVER.
"That is why we have formed this beautiful family - because of our resistance. I always told you darling, you reap what you sow.
"Your children's delight at seeing you, the passion they show for you every day and the love they process for you, you have earned it.
"This card that I give you, printed on a sheet of paper, I will give it to you in person very soon. Then we can again relive our moments of madness, all four of us.
"In the meantime, with this cake I have made for you, let's enjoy it and plan how we will remove the new stone.
"Yes, this one weighs a little more, but remember, four years ago we knocked down a wall together. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DAD! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH."
TIME FOR REFLECTION
With the coronavirus being the great unknown, Gorro isn't scared to admit she's unsure what the future holds.
In a reflective photo staring out the window, she writes: "I admit that I am afraid, for two reasons: My grandparents and my country, my people.
"The pain has only sunk in. The numbers of infected do not stop increasing and more and more are dying.
"What is the truth of this virus? What are they going to do to help us?
"Look, we can draw many conclusions, but the truth is only one. Again whether we like it or not, the responsibility to stop this is ours alone.
"Once again life tests our solidarity and humanity. Our people are DYING, our economy is DYING. And what we are all clear about, is that we CAN trust them and we are in the best hands, our HEALTHCARE SYSTEM."
"Therefore, PLEASE be aware and listen to them, DO NOT go out on the street unnecessarily. It is more preferable to have meetings with your colleagues in a month, over not stopping seeing them for your life.
"It is better to close your eyes and imagine the beach, than to not step on it again for a long time due to the depression you will have when losing a relative of yours.
"We can ALL be infected, we are NOT exempt. Let's be aware, because WE are now SAVING LIVES too."
