German newspaper hands David Moyes and Aaron Cresswell WORST POSSIBLE rating after West Ham defeat

German news outlet Bild have delivered a damning assessment of West Ham's second-leg display in their Europa League exit to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Hammers went into Thursday's game already on the backfoot after their 2-1 defeat at the London Stadium last week.

Their fate was all but sealed in the opening 30 minutes in the second-leg, when Aaron Cresswell was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity, before Rafael Borre scored the only goal of the game.

As a result, German newspaper Bild have ripped into the Hammers in their match ratings, with both Cresswell and David Moyes dished out the worst possible rating they can possibly hand out.

Bild use the German school grading system where 1 is the highest rating which means very good and 6 is the lowest which is insufficient.

It was perhaps no surprise that Cresswell and Moyes were handed a 6 after they were both sent off.

Cresswell left his team to battle with ten men for 71 minutes, while Moyes was given his marching orders from the touchline after he booted a ball at a Frankfurt ballboy.

Things weren't much better for the rest of the West Ham team in terms of the rating they received with one player considered to produce a good performance.

Tomas Soucek, Kurt Zouma, Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen were deemed deficient with a rating of 5.

Captain Declan Rice, Craig Dawson and Vladimir Coufal fared slightly better with a 4, which is seen to be passable but still lacking.

The highest rated players in the West Ham team were goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and Michail Antonio who both got a three as they were considered average.

In comparison, they were very complimentary of the hosts, who reached their first European final in four decades as they will play Rangers in Seville.

French centre-back Evan Ndicka was their Man of the Match, as he was the only player to receive the highest rating of 1.

The rest of the Frankfurt team were all handed a 2, with Bild considering their performances to be good.

After the game, Moyes said: 'I kicked a ball back at the ballboy. I apologise for that but he threw it back very softly at me.' Moyes later joked 'it was nicely on the volley for me' but reiterated he was sorry for losing his temper.

'I just feel disappointment,' he added. 'We've played better teams than Frankfurt. We probably lost the game in the first 30 seconds at the London Stadium and have been chasing it ever since. I don't know if I've enjoyed the officiating but I've enjoyed being in the competition.'
