Liverpool have today released their new home kit for the 2021-22 campaign, showing a deviation from the norm by adding a bold orange trim to their all red design.
Images of Jurgen Klopp's star men wearing the new creation were published by the club as the promotion period started, though it appears the fan base will take some time to adjust to the updated colour selection.
Taking to social media Liverpool launched the kit at 8am, by releasing a video showing the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and goalkeeper Alisson inside Anfield with dramatic red screen backdrop editing.
The shirt - a second creation by new kitmakers Nike following their debut season with the Reds - carries the usual Standard Chartered logo and has thin white lines running diagonally across the template.
Not all fans have been left convinced by the design however, with many picking up the fact that Nike had created a colour scheme similar to another of the clubs they sponsor.
Several Liverpool fans immediately noted that the new colour palette looks like that of Italian giants Roma, and were left unimpressed as a result.
One fan simply questioned online: 'Why have they given us a Roma kit?'
Another added: 'First thing I think is "Roma" which probably shouldn't be the case. It's a shame because I really liked this season's one.'
When it comes to pricing, fans have also been left with their mouths agape.
The shirt comes in two variations, a 'Stadium home' offering which is available for £69.95, or a 'Match Home' version priced at a much steeper £104.95.
The latter version is said to more closely resemble the exact kit worn by Klopp's players on matchday, incorporating Nike's Dri-FIT ADV technology and coming with a more snug, fitted feel.
Since taking over from New Balance, Nike have been bold in their creations for Liverpool in a bid to make a huge impression.
This season Klopp's men turned out in a home shirt with a turquoise hem, in a nod back to the designs the club sported in the early 1990s.
Nike also decked the Reds out in a controversial blue/turquoise third shirt, which has been worn sporadically this season, predominantly in cup competitions.
In the coming weeks Liverpool are set to launch two more shirts; an away kit and a third strip, along with corresponding shirts for the goalkeepers.
