Guess the player: Who's this Champions League winner?

  /  autty

On the verge of his 31st birthday, this footballer has won 24 trophies at two different clubs and has 81 caps for his country...

Our mystery player of the week was born in 1987 and is considered one of the best strikers in the world, although over the last couple of seasons it is certain that he has not played to his full potential. He is a footballer who tends to have more time for his coaches than fans, but who has been a regular starter for his club for a number of seasons.

Over the course of his career he has won 24 trophies at club level with two different sides but has never won an international title with his country.

Got it yet? The cherubic toddler in the photo above is none other than Karim Benzema, Real Madrid’s number nine who was born in France to parents of Algerian descent. After starring for his hometown club Lyon and winning four Ligue 1 titles, a Coupe de France and two Trophée des Champions, Benzema moved to Real Madrid for 35 million euros in 2009 and is now the club’s seventh-highest scorer of all time, passing the 200 mark for Los Blancos against Viktoria Plzen last week and becoming just the seventh player in history to reach that figure for Madrid.

At the Bernabéu, Benzema had added two Liga titles, two Copas del Rey, four Champions Leagues and three Club World Cup trophies to his collection, along with five Spanish and European Super cups.
