Harry Kane has led the tributes to Tottenham's fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone after he died suddenly from leukaemia at the age of 61 on Thursday.
Ventrone, nicknamed 'The Marine' for his demanding training regimes, arrived at Spurs last year alongside Antonio Conte and was a popular member of the coaching setup.
He was taken ill on Thursday morning, and passed away at a hospital in Naples. Kane has reacted to Ventrone's death with an emotional post on Twitter.
'A truly remarkable man. I’m devastated by the passing of our coach Gian Piero. My love and strength is with his family at this time,' Kane tweeted alongside a picture of himself with Ventrone.
'His words and wisdom will live on with me for the rest of my life and I’m just grateful I had the opportunity to spend time with him. RIP Prof.'
Fellow striker Richarlison also paid tribute to the Italian following the news of his death.
'Since I arrived at Tottenham, Gian has been a huge inspiration to me. He always said that I would help him a lot during the season, but who helped me was him... much more than he can imagine,' he wrote.
'Today we woke up to the terrible news of his passing and we are all devastated.'
Right-back Matt Doherty posted his own personal tribute on social media as he responded to Tottenham's tweet which read: 'Rest in peace, Gian Piero'.
Doherty replied: 'Amazing man'.
Tottenham's chief commercial officer Todd L. Kline labelled Ventrone a 'phenomenal human'.
He wrote on Twitter: 'Beyond sad news. GPV was a force of nature who made a positive impact on everyone he met. I will miss our conversations on the road and his contagious positive attitude. Just a phenomenal human. My thoughts are with his family and friends.'
Conte was due to speak to the media on Thursday ahead of Tottenham's trip to Brighton this weekend, but his press conference was cancelled after Ventrone's death.
Ventrone's funeral is due to take place on Sunday at 3pm.
