Inside Arsenal's bootroom: Aubameyang and Co spoilt for choice with boots

Arsenal fans were given a rare glimpse into the club's bootroom at the training ground as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Co mulled over which boots to put on for training.

The Gunners squad are busy preparing for Wednesday's north London derby tie in the Carabao Cup but appeared in relaxed mood as they joked around among the wall of multi-coloured boots.

An all-red pairing was the selection of choice for Mkhitaryan, who netted twice in Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Southampton at St. Marys.

For Alexandre Lacazette, he opted for a pair of white and gold Nike boots as he plots to be the hero in Wednesday's derby encounter.

While bitter rivals Tottenham, who lost to Arsenal in the league recently, provide the opposition on Wednesday, Unai Emery's squad were relaxed, joking around with each other and coaches as they floated in and out of the boot room.

Emotions always run high in a north London derby but for Emery, who worked his players hard in training on Tuesday, his squad need to channel it and bounce back from defeat on the south coast.

'I said to you that I think showing emotion is very important,' Emery said.

'I think football is emotion. In a derby, maybe this emotion is greater. When you win it's amazing, when you lose it's horrible. Respect is very important. We can show this emotion with respect when we are playing but also when they scored against us, they can show their emotion with their supporters.

'But with respect. We need to show this emotion when we are playing, when we are winning, because I think football needs this passion.'

Emery may be tempted to take the opportunity to field some of the club's promising young stars - like he has in previous rounds and also in the Europa League.

But with local bragging rights on the line, the former Sevilla boss has no plan to leave out the likes of Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan as they geared up for the match in training.
