Inter Milan's CEO has said the club are working on deals to sign Paulo Dybala and Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku — and want to keep Lautaro Martinez at the San Siro.
Inter have been one of the transfer window's busiest clubs. The Athletic revealed last week that they were attempting to bring Lukaku back to Milan, while they have also been in negotiations with Dybala, who left Juventus at the end of last season.
A number of their players have meanwhile been linked with moves away, with Milan Skriniar a target for Paris Saint-Germain and Lautaro admired by a host of European sides.
But on Monday Giuseppe Marotta said Lautaro was "indispensable" to the club, despite their attempts to bolster their front line with the signings of Lukaku and Dybala.
“We have a business plan and we need to end the transfer window having made a profit, but we want to keep on making this squad strong and competitive,” Marotta told Radio Rai when asked about Lautaro's future.
He then added: "We believe that Lautaro is an indispensable element to achieving our goals."
Marotta also indicated that Lautaro's future was separate from their attempts to sign both Lukaku and Dybala.
He said: "It's hard to give a precise answer to those asking about Lukaku and Dybala. They are our main goals but we need to think about their financial implications.
"We jumped headfirst into these two players and if we make it, then good. If we can't, we will focus on other goals. It's not the single player that counts, but rather the squad and this one is already very strong."
Marotta also said Inter will sign Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana in the coming days.
Mkhitaryan, 33, was an important player for Jose Mourinho at Roma last season but could not agree a contract extension. Onana, who was banned by UEFA for violating doping rules last year, left Ajax on a free transfer this summer.
"Mkhitaryan will be official in the next few days, the same goes for Onana," Marotta said.
"We are evaluating a bit of everything, also players from the youth team who became Italy champions. We know that we must wait for young players and build a strong team."
Marotta also confirmed Inter's interest in the Torino defender Gleison Bremer.
"He's a player that many top teams would really like to have, but also one on which we've concentrated all our attention."
