King Charles III has met with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, club captain Kimpembe and PSG women’s player Katoto in Saint-Denis on Thursday.
According to RMC Sport, Buckingham Palace requested to meet the PSG president, not just because of their Ligue 1 title victory last season, but also because of the PSG Foundation, which aims to support disadvantaged or sick children, as well as young people and communities in difficulty.
Kimpembe, as well as being the captain of the club, is also involved in the PSG Foundation project. The France international is currently sidelined through injury and has been for the whole year. He is expected to return to fitness soon. Former Marseille and Chelsea forward Didier Drogba was also present at the visit, as King Charles III held a ‘Charles No 3’ jersey alongside President Al-Khelaifi.
King Charles III wants to develop a relationship with the PSG Foundation, through his own organisation ‘The Prince’s Trust,’ which also attributes great importance to education through sport.
“It was a great honour and a privilege to welcome King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla to highlight the incredible work of the PSG Foundation. PSG is proud to have a positive impact on its local communities and on those that need it, particularly in Paris, our home,” said Al-Khelaifi in a press release from the club.
