Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish is on the road to recovery from coronavirus with his daughter Kelly Cates revealing 'he is starting to get moany, so we know he's getting better'.
Dalglish, 69, was admitted to Southport and Ormskirk General hospital a week ago for treatment on gallstones when he was assessed for Covid-19 and returned a positive test despite showing no symptoms.
Dalglish, who is widely considered Liverpool's greatest ever player and won every domestic trophy during two spells as manager, was discharged from hospital on Sunday and is now recovering at home.
His Sky Sports presenter daughter Kelly issued an update on his health, telling BBC Radio 5 Live: 'He's doing all right. My mum's got a patio that needs jet washing so we need him up and about as soon as possible.
'He's good. He's not quite up and 100 per cent yet but he's not too bad at all.'
Former Scotland forward Dalglish won the Scottish league title four times with Celtic before joining Liverpool in 1977.
He enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Anfield, winning eight league titles and three European cups as a player and manager.
Dalglish is also well-renowned for steering Blackburn Rovers to the Premier League title in 1995.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said it was a 'shock' when he heard that Dalglish had coronavirus and it was 'very good news' when he was discharged from hospital.
Dalglish commended the tireless work being done by doctors and nurses to tackle the pandemic over the weekend.
'They were absolutely brilliant,' said Dalglish. 'As a nation, we are very lucky to have them. I wish them well as they continue to work.
'It's never easy being in hospital but when you are in the care of our NHS staff then it is wholly comforting. You know you are in good hands.'
