Jurgen Klopp has been leading from the front this week as work finally got under way on Liverpool's new, state-of-the-art training facilities which will join together the senior team and the academy system.
Klopp and his coaching staff came together on Thursday to gather at the academy site in Kirkby, where a vast area has been marked out for the construction.
The German boss donned high-visibility clothing and a hard hat as the club held a special 'breaking ground' ceremony, upon the location where the diggers are soon to fire into action.
Earlier in the year the Reds confirmed they would be proceeding ahead with the redevelopment of the academy site in as well as the neighbouring Eddie McArdle community playing fields.
The move came as part of a long-term plan, made in agreement with Klopp, that the senior team should be brought closer to the youth set-up in order to provide a clear path of progression through the club.
The joining together will occur for the first time in the history of the club, and will see Liverpool boast one of the newest and most advanced bases in the country.
Klopp was joined on the building site by academy director Alex Inglethorpe and chief operating officer Andy Hughes, along with the leader and chief executive of Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council and representatives from building contractors McLoughlin & Harvey to celebrate the beginning of the process.
Upon completion the new 9,200sqm training complex will provide an elite performance centre for the first team and a state-of-the-art training area for the development squads.
The facilities will also boast an array of new pitches, two gyms, a full-size sports hall, swimming pool, hydrotherapy complex and specialist sports rehabilitation suites. Dedicated TV studios, press conference facilities and office accommodation will also be created.
The project will also see the Knowsley Council's Eddie McArdle community playing fields at Simonswood Lane redeveloped. Some notable developments include five improved pitches and new changing rooms.
A completion date of spring 2020 has been penciled in, at which point the Liverpool senior side will leave their historic Melwood base.
The iconic training ground has played a huge part in the history of the club, and saw the creation of Liverpool's revered 'boot room' under Bill Shankley and later Bob Paisley.
