Norwich vs Liverpool

2020/21 was a rather disappointing campaign for Liverpool.

After securing their first-ever Premier League title just a few months prior, the Reds were no doubt eager to mount a respectable title defence.

However, a spate of injuries to some of their biggest stars quickly put an end to this, with Liverpool eventually settling for a 3rd place finish in the league.

But with said stars now returning to action, Liverpool are now no doubt much more hopeful of challenging the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United this campaign.

Liverpool’s 2021/22, like their title-winning 2019/20 did, will begin with a clash against newly-promoted Norwich City.

The Canaries would dominate the Championship last time out, but Liverpool, despite the tie being at Carrow Road, should still be viewed as the favourites for the game.

Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool team news

Prior to facing off with Norwich on Saturday evening, Jurgen Klopp held his latest pre-match press conference on Friday.

In said presser, Klopp would speak about Liverpool’s current injury issues.

And, as per the German, Andy Robertson is Liverpool’s only serious injury concern ahead of Norwich.

Curtis Jones will also miss the game due to the concussion protocols whilst Klopp confirmed that Jordan Henderson and Thiago started their pre-seasons late:

“All the players are here, but Thiago/Henderson started late. We don’t prepare for 1 game, a full season in world’s most intense league. All others trained 2 or 5 weeks. We have no major injuries apart from Robbo. Curtis is fit it’s just [concussion] protocol, we respect.”
