Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants his players to shoot on sight in the Champions League second leg tie against Atletico Madrid after the team failed to have an effort on target in Spain.
The Reds slumped to just their second defeat of the campaign at the Wanda Metropolitano - the scene of their famous Champions League triumph in June - as they were outfoxed 1-0 by a stubborn Atletico side, with Saul scoring the only goal.
Now Klopp wants to see a more positive display from his Liverpool outfit as they look to take the game to their LaLiga opponents and overturn the tie.
'More shots on target, that what I'm expecting,' he said at a press conference ahead of the game. 'We had good situations but we played a team with the world's best deep defence.
'The challenge was always clear and it is one of the biggest in football, they fight until the end and we do too so that's why it is interesting. It is half-time. That is the best news. We use half-time traditionally in a really good way, very often we improve.'
Klopp believes a three week gap between the two legs has given Liverpool plenty of time from reflection after a troublesome first game, and pointed out the raucous Anfield support as a huge advantage for his players.
'This time we had three weeks as half-time, so I think a lot of things are different to before. We have a couple of advantages now on our side like atmosphere, our crowd will be an advantage. We have to produce a performance on the pitch that has to be exceptional in all departments.'
Atletico are renowned for sitting deep and breaking forwards with pace on the counter, and the German boss insisted that Liverpool have prepared meticulously for their strengths, adding that he hopes the atmosphere from the crowd can unsettle them.
'The counter threat makes it even more difficult. Set-pieces, they are very experienced team and know how to deal with different situations. But not a lot have played in a stadium like Anfield, we want to use that.'
