Leipzig fear £17.5m fee will stop them signing Angelino from Man City

Manchester City defender Angelino appears destined to depart the club once again this summer but if he wants to make RB Leipzig his permanent team, he needs a favour from Pep Guardiola and co.

Angelino returned to City in the summer from PSV Eindhoven for £5.3million, just a year after leaving the Premier League giants for Holland on permanent terms.

But the 23-year-old struggled to cement a place in City's line-up and moved to German side RB Leipzig on loan in January, where he has already played six times.

Leipzig boss Julian Naglesmann has been impressed by his new defender but, speaking to Kicker, said that the fee in place to make the deal permanent could price them out of a move.

It is believed that Leipzig have to pay £17.5m to sign Angelino permanently.

'He has a hefty price tagm' Nagelsmann said. 'We first have to see what is in the wallet and whether the player and the releasing club then play along. That will show the future.

'Here he has to do a lot of things very differently than with Pep). He adapts things incredibly quickly. He is the only newcomer who can adapt extremely quickly to the way I think about football - just offensive - got used to it.

'He doesn't worry too much, but intuitively does a lot of things right. He obviously thinks a lot before the games and thinks about what he needs to do.'

Angelino has scored once in his six Leipzig appearances so far and also played in their 1-0 win over Tottenham in the last-16 of the Champions League.

Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga, three points behind leaders Bayern Munich and are next in action on Saturday, away to Wolfsburg.
