Harry Kane faces an increasingly uncertain future at Tottenham at the moment with his contract set to expire in 12 months

Bayern Munich have been handed a huge boost to their hopes of signing Harry Kane this summer. The 30-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to the German outfit recently, with his contract at Tottenham set to expire at the end of next season.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham have identified Mehdi Taremi as an heir to Kane's thrown in north London. The report states that contact between Spurs and Porto has been made through super agent Jorge Mendes.

It's believed that Levy has prepared a €24million (£20.8m) offer for the 31-year-old talisman, who has a €30million (£25.9million) price tag. Taremi featured 33 times for Porto in the Primeira Liga last season, scoring 22 goals and recording eight assists.

The report claimed that the Portuguese side baulked at the west Londoners' approach due to an inability to replace Taremi so late into the summer transfer window. Portugal has been a goldmine for 'the next big thing' for a while now, with Chelsea reaping great success from the signings of David Luiz, Ramires, Nemanja Matic and Enzo Fernandez in recent years.

Rio Ferdinand has recommended Taremi to Manchester United during the World Cup in December. Speaking on his YouTube show 'Vibe with Five', the former Red Devils defender said: "I’d have gone and got Taremi in from Porto."

Then, during the BBC's World Cup coverage ahead of England's Group B opener with Iran, Ferdinand added: "I know him quite well. I spoke to him on the phone a few times, he’s a really good guy."
