Liverpool and Manchester City fans have debated which superstar striker is better on the day City announced Erling Haaland and the Reds sealed a deal for Darwin Nunez.
Premier League champions City finally announced the official arrival of Norwegian star Haaland for £51million from Borussia Dortmund on Monday.
Meanwhile, Benfica confirmed earlier that morning Uruguayan forward Nunez is on his way to Anfield to seal a club-record £85m move.
Jurgen Klopp's Reds and Pep Guardiola's Citizens are the best two sides in England and twice in the last four seasons City have pipped Liverpool to the league title by just one point, including last campaign.
With their rivalry ramping up as both chase more silverware, they have turned to the transfer market this summer for more firepower up front.
And with Haaland confirmed and Nunez close, fans quickly took to social media to argue which player is better.
Some stated their belief Haaland is better, with one fan saying: 'Nunez couldn’t lace Haaland's boots even if he tried.'
Another added: 'Surely that question isn’t serious. Nunez seems quality but Haaland is a different level.'
A third posted: 'How is there a debate?? Haaland is better and got bought for cheaper.'
One continued: 'Honestly think Haaland will hit the ground running he’s done it an every level up to now. I reckon Nunez will take more time', before saying: 'Please stop comparing them.'
Some were clear on Nunez being better, with one saying: 'Haaland is more of a tap in striker while Nunez has it all. Very hard to chose but Nunez comes first.'
Another stated: 'Nunez is future Ballon d'Or winner', while a third offered a balanced view, tweeting: 'On paper Haaland looks a better buy. But if you factor in wages then Haaland is significantly more expensive than Nunez.
'And it's difficult to say which one is a better buy, better to give them both a season to answer that question.'
Finally, one concluded: 'A rivalry that the Premier League needs', posting a picture of the pair mocked up in the kits of their new club.
