Liverpool are appointing Arsenal's lead doctor Gary O'Driscoll as their new head of medical services.
Sportsmail revealed on January 8 how highly-respected O'Driscoll was the leading candidate to replace Andrew Massey, the Reds' current of head of medical services, who is leaving Anfield to take up a similar role at world football's governing body FIFA from March 1.
And Sportsmail can confirm O'Driscoll has decided to take the role at Liverpool after holding talks with the Champions League club.
O'Driscoll, who has has roots in the north-west having spent a period working in Manchester during the 2000s, is widely recognised as being one of the best in his field and Arsenal were determined to keep him at the Emirates.
Arsenal, however, will not let O'Driscoll leave Arsenal until a replacement is found. The Gunners have already started advertising for the role as head of sports medicine.
